History In 1934, Zelienople was chosen as the site for the operations of the Universal Fittings and Scaffolding Company. Seventeen skilled workers and their families moved to Zelienople and bought the machinery to create a new type of industry in Western Pennsylvania - producing various types of ladders, platforms and clamp-type steel scaffolding.
During the early 1940's, Universal continued to create and develop new types of access equipment, including one of the original standard sectional frame-style scaffolding designs. In 1948, we became Universal Manufacturing Corp.
Today, we remain a leader in scaffolding development and adaptation because we listen to our customers' needs and provide the highest-quality scaffolding products to meet their challenges.
