Universal System Scaffold

In an effort to access the stone veneer and belfry of the Cornell Library Tower, the contractor, along with Albany Ladder, utilized the diversity and increased capacity of system scaffolding.

Both the Universal Manufacturing Corp. Engineering Department and a New York firm performed extensive engineering for this installation. Attention to underground classrooms at the clock tower base, as well as to steel beam supports for spanning scaffolding over an adjoining building, consumed most of the engineering time.

Universal System Scaffold, Endlok and Custom fabricated trusses

The Darragh Company was asked to design and build a scaffold that would provide access to every inch of the Arkansas State Capitol Dome while cleaning and waterproofing work was done. Bill Munch of UMC provided a detailed design for the project and Darragh scaffold erectors did the rest. A self-supported ring of Universal System Scaffold was connected at the very peak of the dome with custom-fabricated scaffold trusses. After the trusses were installed work levels were hung from the trusses to provide access to all areas of the dome.

Universal System Scaffold

Specializing in boutique, high-end, specialty scaffold work, York Scaffold Equipment was the perfect company to handle a 24-hour NY Fashion Week project.

York was asked to design a scaffold that could be used as a runway and showcase for the fashion models. The entire project including a 20-minute show had to be in and out of the building in 24-hours. A Universal design team worked very closely with John Ottulich of York to confirm the exact layout and build of material. The flexibility of Universal System Scaffold provided York with a scaffold that could be assembled and disassembled quickly and also gave the client an innovative, attractive display.

Universal System Scaffold & Custom System/Shoring Frame Scaffold

The objective of this project was to allow quick and easy transport of construction personnel from the ground to the slip forms used on the construction of the peers.

To minimize costs, the decision was made to access both the east-bound and west-bound piers from one stair tower. This was accomplished by attaching the stair tower to the sky crane centered between the peers. Special gangways were installed to ramp over to each slip form. Engineering needed to account for the high wind forces imposed on both the stair tower and gangways and for the natural sway of the sky crane.

Due to the extra weight caused by the sway of the sky crane a hybrid shoring/system scaffold frame was designed to increase loading ability for the lower portions of the stair towers.
